We know visiting a new church for the first time can be a bit scary. The information below may help you feel less anxious about joining us this Sunday. What time is church? We offer two services on Sundays at 9:00 and 10:30 am in the Sanctuary located just to the right of the main doors. What do I wear? You will see some people at Hilltop dressed in suits and dresses and others in shorts or jeans. We do not expect any certain level or style of dress and want you to feel comfortable. What about my kids? School-aged children and adults may attend Sunday School at 9:00 am. For children 3 and under, a nursery is available from 9:00 to 10:00 and from 10:30 to 11:30. Children are encouraged to attend the worship service at 10:30 with their parents. About ten minutes into the service, they are invited to come forward for a children's message. Following this, kids ages four through second grade may go to children's church where they will have a lesson and activity. Or they are welcome to remain with their parents throughout the worship service. A children's bulletin is provided with coloring and puzzles that align with the theme of the sermon. We have crayons, Magna Doodles, and other activites to occupy children during the service. Ask for these at the Welcome Center. What is the style of the worship services? The structure of both services is mostly and usually traditional. An overarching theme is woven through each element of the service. Participation in the service is encouraged through responsive readings and congregational singing. Everything is spelled out in the bulletin you will receive as you enter the sanctuary. A variety of vocal and instrumental ensembles and soloists offer a rich and diverse blend of musical styles from Renaissance to modern gospel and praise, as well as traditional hymns and sacred music. Is communion served? Holy communion is usually celebrated the first Sunday of the month. All are welcome at the Lord's table. You need not be a member of Hilltop or any church to partake of this holy sacrament. You are invited to kneel at the rail or take by intinction. The Methodist church uses white bread and grape juice to represent the body and blood of Christ. Gluten-free wafers are available for those who may have sensitivities.Hilltop Orientation For anyone interested in joining Hilltop or just learning more about Methodism and Hilltop, we meet every other month at 9:00 am in the Ada Room for two Sundays. We welcome you to stop by anytime Monday through Thursday 9:00 am to 3:00 pm to see our space and get more information.
